Schneider Electric Adds New Educational Videos on Bonding and Grounding a Data Center to Online Library December 21, 2009
Schneider Electric announces the release of a new educational video series on its www.criticalpowernow.com Web site. The current three-part series, entitled Ground Fault Protection & System Grounding, discusses ground fault protection and system grounding in the data center environment. The series is based on the white paper written by Bill Brown, Frank Waterer and Jerry Kramer of Schneider Electric’s Data Center Solutions team.
“Our goal in developing educational videos such as these stems from a primary objective to promote the knowledge and expertise of our members to the data center market,” says Mike Murry, segment manager for Schneider Electric Data Center Solutions. “We feel that our customers’ perspective of that expertise is a major contributing factor to our continuous success.”
Parts 1 through 3 are the first in a series of what will be four educational videos on this topic. All feature topic expert Frank Waterer, Fellow Electrical Engineer, with Schneider Electric’s Engineering Services. Ground Fault Protection & System Grounding, Part 1, discusses the differences between grounding and bonding in a data center power distribution system, and understanding best practices for proper system bonding and grounding during normal operations. Part 2 focuses on the basis priniciples behind bonding and grounding, and Part 3 outlines basic NEC terms used in a grounding system. The fourth release is scheduled for early 2010, and will discuss integration of data centers with alternative energy sources and the necessary grounding and bonding techniques to employ.
The videos are the latest in a new series of online educational videos being offered by Schneider Electric Data Center Solutions. The videos are posted on www.criticalpowernow.com, and will serve as readily available educational references regarding various top-of-mind topics in the critical power industry. Additionally, the site features a Critical Power Technical Reference Repository, which contains video case studies, along with recently released and archived whitepapers and technical presentations categorized by multiple topic areas related to electrical reliability within data centers and other critical power environments.
